Feature request: Add support for SDRplay devices

SDRplay devices are very popular with many people using them. It would be great to be able to use them with GPredict-Improved.

Soapy does already support them via a plugin, so hopefully should be possible to add support via the existing infrastructure.

Thank you for the suggestion! SDRplay devices are indeed very popular, and we'd love to support them.

However, SDRplay support is more complex to bundle than our other supported devices (RTL-SDR, HackRF, Airspy, etc.). The reason is that SoapySDRPlay3 depends on SDRplay's proprietary API library (sdrplay_api.dll on Windows / libsdrplay_api.so on Linux), which cannot be redistributed and must be installed separately by the user. This makes it significantly harder to include in our automated CI build and installer bundle compared to fully open-source drivers.

In the meantime, if you'd like to try it:

1. Install the SDRplay API from the official SDRplay website
2. Install SoapySDRPlay3 for your platform (GitHub)
3. GPredict-Improved should then be able to detect your SDRplay device via SoapySDR automatically

We're tracking this for a future release once we find a clean way to handle the proprietary API dependency in our build pipeline. Thank you for your patience!

I checked the log.

The application correctly finds the bundled rtlsdr.dll:

[RTL-SDR diag] rtlsdr.dll resolved path: C:\Program Files\FBSAT59_internal\rtlsdr.dll

It also detects my dongle:

[RTL-SDR enum] rtlsdr_get_device_count() = 1

However, I cannot find any log entry showing an actual rtlsdr_open() or [RTL-SDR direct] open attempt after pressing Connect. The SDR Control window always stays Disconnected and no spectrum appears.

Is there another debug mode that logs the actual connect/open sequence?

@dfranc3624-arch — looks like your latest log (2026-07-18) landed on this issue again, but this is still the RTL-SDR Blog V4 connect issue, which we're tracking over on #10. I already replied there on 2026-07-19 asking for a log that captures you actually pressing the Rig 1 Connect button (with the [RigConnect diag] trace from v0.2.15+). No action needed on this issue (SDRplay support) — let's keep following up on #10. Thanks for your patience!
