We just introduced screenplay (https://cratis.io/screenplay)
The motivation is to create a language for the post AI era. It is not a general purpose language. But it has the ability to leverage general purpose languages either inline for smaller snippets or include full files that holds logic.
The idea is to create a language that is fully capable of representing any information systems.
It is also representing an abstraction together with Stage, another Cratis project, that is capable of running a Screenplay. It will also be able to render a screenplay to more low level code. While we think this is just a support crutch till one is comfortable in not thinking about low level.
Primarily built around the concepts introduced by Cratis in Arc and Chronicle, but language is agnostic and extensible.
Why write software in the pre AI way, which is more costly, more tokens needed and less geared towards the outcomes of the business - when you can go all in and get a language geared towards businesses.
The language can’t handle everything , and that is the point. We will need extensibility points and pluggability to handle common scenarios. But rather than having to write them multiple times, we could be offering things in a marketplace.
Cratis studio is the first class tooling for this. Although we do bring more to the table with VsCode support for the language and tooling for compiling and running.
