Fonts that I have installed on my system for my personal use supersede/replace their respective font options from google fonts. For example I have Geist font installed on my system to be used as plasma's default font. But because I only installed 3-4 weights on my system, in figma-desktop only those weight appears and no other entry of geist from google fonts, either from search or manual scrolling that i can use in my designs. So now I either have to manually install all weights and italic weights on my system so they appear in figma-desktop or use figma in browser if I want to use that font.
TLDR: installed fonts replace their respective entry from google fonts so only font weights installed on system can be used. google fonts no longer shows the font entry from its own library.
