Domino Backup with Veeam: can you confirm Domino 14 and 14.5.x ?

I work at Veeam and I am currently answering an RFP for a French public sector customer. One of the requirements is the backup of HCL Domino with Veeam Backup & Replication. The customer runs Domino 14 today and plans to move to 14.5. .

I did some homework before asking. The Domino 14.5 admin documentation describes the same components as v12: dominobackup.nsf, the Backup and Restore tasks, the Snapshot tab for third-party tools, and the same API below. Your Veeam pages also go up to 14.5.1, and I found recent issues here that mention Veeam with that version. On our side, the alliance page still refers to Domino Backup v12, so I have nothing official to rely on.

So I would like your confirmation on a few points:

• Is the Veeam integration known to work with Domino 14 and 14.5?
• Is 14.5.1 (Domino 2026) the recommended version for this integration, since the mount helper service now ships with it?
• Is there anything specific to watch out for on these versions, for the backup or for the restore?
• Do you expect any change on the Veeam side with the next releases?

And one suggestion, if this is something you can control. The documentation mentions specific versions only when a behaviour changes, for example 14.0 for the service account and 14.5.1 for the helper service. But there is no place that simply states which Domino versions the Veeam integration supports or has been tested with. A short note on that would help a lot. It would also give us a reference on the Veeam side to finally update our own page, which still stops at v12.

I got a ping from Hannes this morning. His question was about supporting Veeam Backup and Replication 13 mainly. But we also spoke about current Domino Versions.

Domino 12.0.2 introduced VSS Writer support where we changed the integration to cover the VSS Writer support -- which is a very elegant way to integrate if the VSS infrastructure supports application consistency (allowing to mount the snapshot to add the delta files).

From Domino 12.0.2 on this integration is supported. We make sure it continues to work from the Domino side.
There are some changes on the Domino side because the way Domino is setup by default in the later Domino versions.

In stead of the system account Domino uses the local service account. Running with a none admin user does not allow to mount the snapshot.

Therefore for versions earlier than 14.5.1 need to run with the system account -- which is still supported but not recommended out of the box because it is more secure to run Domino with a none privileged account.

Beginning with Domino 14.5.1 there is a new backup mount service which running with the system account to help mounting and un-mounting the VSS snapshot.

Beside those details and improved error checking for the snapshot operations there are no specific changes.

The Veeam integration works from Domino 12.0.2 thru Domino 14.5.1. We could reflect this in the solution document. But then we would need to update it for every version.

We could add 12.0.2 and 14.0.x + 14.5.x ? would this be sufficient granular?
