ust tested with all vanilla Rope Fences and each dropped the respective fence and a rope item.

to clarify i did not test them in-game. there was a bunch of complaints in the log. maybe duplicate loot files then?

regardless, i'm making a new issue to call dibs on fences. i'll take care of them. i can't stand 10 separate blocks with block entities.

Be mindful that RopeFenceBlock doesn't have a entity anymore. It used to have an entity when we contained the original activated fence item in an inventory so that it would drop dynamically and dynamically handle the model textures.

that's what i wanted to do - because rendering it is easy and we would get support for any fence in one block.

argh. not so easy if i need re-add that.

Checked the 1.20 code ... we had a 1 to 1 RopeFenceBlock for each of the variations and they had block entities. While the rendering was dynamic, each variation had its own registration and single block entity. Current implementation produces the same result without the need for a block entity.

Ideally, we'll need a way to store the variant without needing an entity.

it's either clones of simple block with separate loot tables dropping appropriate fence, or a single block with a block entity (to remember a fence) and a renderer.

either way is fine. so long as we don't have 10 blocks with pointless block entities.
