Alt drag in node graph while holding a connection

Gaffer borrows a lot of muscle memory and workflow from Nuke in terms of navigating the node graph. Similar to Nuke, the node graph can be panned with alt clicking, but in Gaffer this option is not available while holding a connection. In that case the user only can use the mouse scroll wheel to pan, which is a bit cumbersome to use, and dissimilar to the Nuke behaviour. It would be useful to be able to use the alt click pan while holding a connection, similar to Nuke.

Some of our users find holding-and-dragging a bit of a pain, so there is an alternate drag mode that might be useful here. You can press the G button to initiate a drag, and as a side effect, the mouse buttons are now free. In this mode middle-button panning works as usual. I'm curious to know how that works for you.

Thanks John for the advice. I've already tried it but never got the hang of it because it is so much different than what I am used to. It requires me to know in advance whether I'd like to grab that connection to connect it far away or not and also this means that there are now 2 methods of grabbing a connection that I need to juggle in my mind. Both the alt drag and leftclick grabbing works in the nodegraph individually, but it is strange to me why they are not working when used simultaneously.
