ACDD Versioning

Didn't someone recommend calendar versioning or something similar at the session? I can't find anything in the notes, but I recall something like that. Maybe it was a different conversation!

Either way, I know it won't update frequently, but it does side step having to make a judgement call on the version number.

I it wasn't me who suggested calendar versioning, it certainly sounds like something I would suggest. In e.g. xarray, the it follows a YYYY.MM.X where X is a zero indexed release number. So the first release that happens of this month (2026-02-20 as I write this) would be 2026.02.0 though python normalization rules mean 2026.2.0 is equivalent an interchangeable.

Ah, yes, someone did mention that during the January session. Using calendar versioning to remove the necessity of judgement calls on version numbers makes sense to me.
