Netflix doesnt work on android chromium.

I already programmed a working version of an Android TV app in the android folder,
except for Netflix which doesnt work for the same reason as the first comment.

In the last couple weeks i didnt develop it further because i asked in my discord if i should publish it an noone answered.
Currently prime video and disney+ works.

If I finish the android tv app I am pretty sure it can only be sideloaded, bc google obviously wont allow the app similar to smarttube.

The usability is not that great currently since its basically the regular website, If I wanna publish I have to improve some navigation with the remote.
Because of this worse usability i was not sure if its not just easier to cast your phone or laptop to the TV where the extension can already run.

If you wanna use a specific service I might finish that one first and upload the APK.

Hello and thanks for fast response!
I want to use it for prime video, because the ads are really heavy meanwhile.
At start there was one for an own show, but now there are multiple during one episode mixed with real commercials, and as far as I know no way to block it with Adguard Home.
Netflix (5€ for additional account) and Disney+ (subscribed via TR) works great without ads so long.
Also Joyn is without ads, because there Adguard Home does a great job.

What do you think about just casting your phone to your tv. I think this might be just as good probably since my extension works on android for firefox too.
Joyn I didn't add even though some people asked because ublock origin/adguard works fine as you said.
I created my extension because ublock cannot block the inbuilt ads of Netflix originally.

What i didnt do yet is program an update mechanism, because the apk has to be sideloaded and updates will be very annoying.
I was thinking of never upadting the apk and just downloading the javascript anew each time.

This seems to have been fixed recently.
I was able to get the DRM request on the latest Chrome and Firefox using desktop mode (I'm on Android 15 if relevant), and video played smoothly.

I have a couple weeks left before my Netflix plan switches to ads supported, so I couldn't test that part.

I would love to see the SmartTube style Android TV app with remote navigation working with Netflix if possible!
Though I totally understand it's a hobby project.

OMG they seem to have really fixed the issue I opened a year ago. Crazy.
The firefox version on my phone doesn't seem to work, i have to check the new version (Version: Fenix 145.0-candidate build 1).
I will program my mobile extension to work on Netflix when it works.
Will do that this weekend. (The regular functions should work, but i can change the website to be more mobile friendly and change to desktop mode automatically.)

With this it now makes it possible to make a Smarttube style app for every streaming service Netflix included.
I already made a sample Android TV app which works, but the TV remote navigation is not good yet.
Maybe I should check how Smarttube does it.

As you said, this is a hobby project, which is why I do not have much time to work on it.

Oh weird!

I installed the extension, opened Netflix.com in desktop mode, signed in, and then it asked me for drm permission.

I had to first check my site settings were set to Ask
And it was my first time opening Netflix in Firefox, so maybe clearing site data could help?

I used Firefox 144.0.2, Android 15, Samsung S21 Ultra
