Desk Rave is a little pixel-art club that lives on your desk.
Play internet radio, your own files, or the built-in soundtrack — and the whole scene moves to it. Real audio, real reactions: the bass drives the crowd, the highs shimmer the lights, the DJ scratches on the beat. It's not a looping animation faking it; it's an actual FFT reading whatever's playing.
It's also a gentle focus companion. Finish a stretch of work and the DJ nudges you to take a break (breaks are rewarded, not punished). Stay in the zone and the crowd grows. Wander off and the music winds down on its own.
This is the clever part, and you choose how it works — all of it runs on your own machine, nothing ever leaves it:
- ⌨️ Activity (default) — the DJ wakes when you use your keyboard or mouse. No permission, no sensors, totally private. Perfect if you just want it running while you work.
- 🎙️ Microphone — wakes to the sound of the room (a loudness reading only — no recording, no listening-in). Best with headphones.
- 📷 Camera — wakes when a webcam sees a face. 100% on-device face detection; no camera frames ever leave your computer.
- 🚫 Off — just plays. No sensing at all.
- 40 hand-drawn venues — a neon club, a rooftop at golden hour, a moonlit beach, a hot-air balloon, a desert rave… each a bespoke little scene.
- Real day/night — outdoor spots follow your actual clock (and if you overstay the park after dark… the cops might show up 🚓).
- A soundtrack that never runs dry — 89 Creative-Commons tracks to start, plus one-tap music packs and a built-in search that pulls more free CC music from the Internet Archive. You'll never hit "I've heard this."
- Bring your own — drop in your files or paste any internet-radio stream.
- Cozy progression — earn as you build a healthy practice, unlock venues, grow your crowd. Calm mode hides all of it if you just want the music.
- Pick your size — Small / Medium / Large HUD, so it reads on any monitor.
The art is hand-coded pixel by pixel. The music is made by real humans (all Creative-Commons, every artist credited in-app). The only machine-learning here is the optional on-device presence sensor — and that stays on your device. No generated art, no generated music, no data leaving your machine.

Your privacy, plainly: Desk Rave's presence feature can use your keyboard/mouse, your microphone, or your camera — you pick, and it defaults to keyboard/mouse. If you choose the camera or microphone, all processing happens locally in your browser. No video, no audio, and no images are ever recorded, saved, uploaded, or sent anywhere. There is no account, no tracking, and no analytics. The camera/mic options exist only so the little DJ knows when you've stepped away.
