🎧 Musicians — get your tracks into Desk Rave

Desk Rave is a tiny 16-bit pixel-art club that lives on people's desks and reacts to music in real time — the bass drives the crowd, the highs shimmer the lights, a pixel DJ works the decks. People leave it running all day while they work. Your track doesn't just get played — it gets a room that dances to it.

The soundtrack is 100% human-made, Creative-Commons music, and every artist is credited. If that's you, we'd love your tracks.

What you get

  • Credit everywhere your track appears: artist + title in the now-playing display while it plays, a per-artist credit (with a link to your site/page) in the app's Options, and a per-track entry in CREDITS.md.
  • Listeners who literally stare at a scene dancing to your music for hours.
  • You keep all rights to your music. CC licensing is non-exclusive — you can keep selling/streaming it anywhere.

Honest up front: Desk Rave is a free project. There's no payment — this is credit + reach, nothing else. If that's not worth it for you, that's completely fair.

What we're looking for

The venues want instrumental electronic music in these lanes:

house · techno · trance · drum & bass · synthwave · lofi · chill · downtempo · ambient

  • Instrumental (or minimal vocals) — it plays while people focus.
  • Roughly 2–6 minutes a track (longer mixes are welcome too — they work like a radio station in-app).
  • Finished, mastered-enough tracks. It doesn't need to be fancy — it needs to groove.

The requirements (the license is the whole deal)

  1. It must be your own original work. No samples of copyrighted material, no covers or remixes of commercial songs (even if your arrangement is original, the underlying composition isn't yours to license).
  2. You license it as CC BY 4.0 or CC0. Plain CC-BY or CC0 only — we can't take NC / SA / ND variants, because the app redistributes the audio.
  3. No AI-generated music. Desk Rave's whole pitch is "no AI slop — real humans, credited." AI-assisted tools in your workflow are your business; tracks that are substantially AI-generated don't fit here.

How to submit

Open a music submission issue on this repo with:

  • Artist name + a link for your credit (site, Bandcamp, archive.org, wherever)
  • A listen link (archive.org, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, direct file…)
  • The genre lane(s) you'd put it in
  • A line confirming: "This is my own original work and I license it under CC BY 4.0 / CC0."

The easiest hosting for us is an archive.org upload (the app can stream straight from it), but anywhere we can download from works — bundled tracks ship inside the app itself.

We listen to everything. If it fits a venue, it goes in with full credit.
