Feature Description
I was looking into updating the Wiki Overworld Replacement Guide to include mention of DSPRE's overworld editor as a quicker method of import/export PNGs for overworld sprites, however, part of that guide talks about how to use "unused" sprites, and/or just repurpose OW sprites by changing their underlying properties (size & number of frames).
There are two difficulties with using DSPRE for the import/export (and following this guide):
- The Tinke import/export method allows replacement of different sized "sprite-sheets", but DSPRE rightly guards against this to prevent accidental mistakes.
- The "unused sprites" are listed by their file index, rather than their OW Entry ID.
I think the latter is likely best resolved with a simple addition to the table present on the page to give the OW Entry IDs alongside the sprite IDs.
I was wondering if it would be acceptable to suggest that users could "accept the risk" of importing a different sized sprite sheet (if it was intentional), by changing the popup and allowing a "do it anyway" action (similar perhaps to the "confirm to proceed" message if trying to access Camera Editor in HGSS without marking overlay 1 as uncompressed?
Use Case
User wants to repurpose one of the unused DP Lucas/Dawn sprites in HGSS or Plat, but change the number of frames used to that of a "normal" overworld.
Priority
Low
