MUAD'DIB Individual Contributor License Agreement (CLA)

Version 1.0

Thank you for contributing to MUAD'DIB (the "Project"). This Contributor License Agreement ("Agreement") states the terms under which You provide Contributions to the Project maintainer, DNSZLSK ("the Maintainer"). It protects You, the Maintainer, and the users of the Project — and, critically, it lets the Project be offered both under the AGPL-3.0 and under separate commercial licenses (dual licensing), which is what keeps it sustainable while remaining open source.

By submitting a Contribution, You agree to the terms below for that Contribution and all future Contributions to the Project.

1. Definitions

  • "You" means the individual who submits a Contribution.
  • "Contribution" means any original work of authorship — including any modification of or addition to existing work — that You intentionally submit to the Project (for example, a pull request, patch, or file).

2. Copyright license

You retain ownership of the copyright in Your Contribution. You hereby grant to the Maintainer, and to recipients of software distributed by the Maintainer, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute Your Contribution and such derivative works.

3. Right to relicense (dual licensing)

You expressly agree that the Maintainer may license Your Contribution, and any derivative works, under any license terms of the Maintainer's choosing — including the AGPL-3.0, other open-source licenses, and proprietary or commercial licenses. This grant is what allows the Project to be dual-licensed.

4. Patent license

You grant to the Maintainer and to recipients of the software a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated below) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer Your Contribution. This license applies only to those patent claims licensable by You that are necessarily infringed by Your Contribution alone or by combination of Your Contribution with the Project. If any entity institutes patent litigation alleging that the Project or a Contribution infringes a patent, the patent licenses granted to that entity under this Agreement terminate.

5. Your representations

You represent that:

  1. each Contribution is Your original creation, or You have the right to submit it under this Agreement;
  2. You are legally entitled to grant the above licenses; and
  3. if Your employer has rights to intellectual property You create, You have received permission to make the Contribution on behalf of that employer, or the employer has waived such rights for the Contribution.

6. No warranty

Contributions are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

7. How to sign

Sign off on each commit using the Developer Certificate of Origin by adding a Signed-off-by: Your Name <email> trailer (git commit -s). On your first pull request, state: "I have read and agree to the CLA."

This is a bootstrapping agreement. Before the Project is transferred to a company, have this text reviewed by counsel and, if needed, assign the accumulated rights to that company.
