Objective
Implement reusable, scientifically qualified impact and vibroacoustic models in Tools, extending the existing golf_club, swing_sim.impact and signal/audio capabilities. AffineDrift supplies theory; UpstreamDrift consumes versioned provider contracts rather than copying kernels.
Native Sub-Issues and Dependencies
Integration and Acceptance
Companions: D-sorganization/AffineDrift#4253 and D-sorganization/UpstreamDrift#9700. The governing provider design is docs/specs/IMPACT_DYNAMICS_ACOUSTICS.md in the implementation PR.
Require test-first analytic limits, full tensor/frame covariance, momentum and work/energy closure, passive dissipation, gyroscopic zero-work checks, contact event refinement and independent time/mesh/modal convergence. Enforce typed units/frames and explicit invalid-input contracts, LoD and DRY, additive API and provider-pin compatibility. Require calibrated and held-out physical measurements before effect-size claims; synthetic sonification is not predicted sound pressure. Preserve exact provenance and update root/package turnover documents with every implementation commit.
Focused provider-import prerequisite: D-sorganization/UpstreamDrift#9735 (fresh contract failure reproduced). The rigid reference delivers only T1. Keep this epic and the flexible/acoustic milestones open until their independent acceptance gates pass.
Current implementation and qualification (2026-09-10)
T3 numerical shaft PR#5133 is merged; #5072 remains open for its full qualification scope. T4 review sequence is organized in #5073: #5145/PR#5146 instantaneous coupling, #5147/PR#5149 temporal contact, #5151/PR#5152 adaptive normal events, and #5153 prescribed force/couple histories. The latest prescribed-load archive passes406 Windows/Linux controls; source and JUnit identities, retained failures and remaining obligations are recorded in Tools docs/development/impact-acoustics/LOAD_HISTORY_RESULTS.json. These tests do not qualify measured player effects, sound pressure or sweetness.
Final cross-repository dependency alignment remains with combined provider PR#5141 and its coordinated UpstreamDrift consumer. Standalone launcher PR#5144 is closed unmerged and its correction is incorporated there. Finite-duration objective friction, face/hosel modes, general convergence and matched interventions, calibrated radiation and blinded perceptual data remain open. Keep this epic open until each independent acceptance gate is met.
