Feature Description
I propose adding a dedicated Metadata Editor to RapidRAW. This feature would allow users to create, view, and modify EXIF/XMP information for images, both individually and in groups (Batch Editing), to ensure a professional cataloging workflow.
Additional Context
The editor panel must organize metadata fields according to the following strict hierarchy:
-
Camera Information: Manufacturer (Make), Model.
-
Shooting Settings: Aperture ($f$-number), Shutter Speed, ISO Speed.
-
Shooting Info: Focal Length, White Balance, Metering Mode, Flash usage, Exposure Compensation.
-
Image Info: Date/Time Original, Image Width/Height, Color Space.
-
Location: GPS Coordinates / City (if available).
Single Image Editing
Triggered when a single image is selected:
- Display all current metadata values extracted from the file.
- Allow manual entry/editing for all fields listed above.
- Option to "Create" metadata if the original RAW file is missing specific tags.
Batch/Group Editing
Triggered when multiple images are selected simultaneously:
- Consistent Values: If a field (e.g., Camera Model) is the same for all selected files, display that value.
- Mixed Values: If values differ across the selection, display a placeholder (e.g., or *).
- Bulk Update: Entering a value in a field and saving will apply that change to all selected images at once. This is essential for correcting timestamps or adding missing location data across an entire photoshoot.
