Bakkesmod error when I try to launch it through terminal.

I followed every step exactly for rocket league on steam, currently on Ubuntu 25 and whenever I try to do the launching bakkesmod portion of your guide through the terminal I get met with purple error codes when I type the command and at the bottom error code it says something along the lines with it couldnt find the correct file path or that the file path doesn't exist. Hi! The problem is probably that they've changed the line from which we get the Proton/Wine path in compat_config. You have to grab the third line instead of the fourth (as it was before). The guide should be hopefully fixed now.

Hope this works for you! If not, can you post the command that's failing and the output? (It's usually good practice to include the command and its output if you want help or are reporting an error.)

I don't 100% know since you didn't really provide any error so I'm just guessing that it's telling you that the binary you're trying to run doesn't exist and that would match the issue with compat_config.

Ok i will try following the new steps later today, one last question I’ve gone through the installer multiple times but can’t find where bakkesmod is installing to I just deleted all the bakkesmod stuff I could find (bakkesmod.zip and bakkesmod.exe) is that everything? I just don’t want random things taking up storage, but yeah in a couple hours or so I will try the tips and if I get the same code I will send it here. Thank you.

Well BakkesModSetup.exe installs the files into the selected Wine prefix (so that would be ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/252950/pfx for Rocket League).

The Wine prefix contains a dirve_c folder which contains the usual Windows directory strucutre so some files would be under ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/252950/pfx/drive_c/Program Files/BakkesMod and probably more places I can't list off the top of my head.

However I wouldn't worry about them too much as it's probably just a couple of MBs and repeated installation will just overwrite the same files so they won't be duplicated.

Just gotten to it. Again I'm really not sure what's exactly wrong as you didn't provide the command you used :D

It seems you're combining /home/jxsticefa and ~ into the same path. The thing is that ~ is resolved into /home/<user> by bash if it's encountered outside of a string.

Ok, I will try installing it later again but use that command instead and I will also look into that bash paths.

that worked but now when I it opens it says it seems like the mod is trying to inject in an unsupoorted version of Rocket league. Would you like to inject anyway? This may cause instabillity issues and crashes but when i click inject anyway it says. It looks like injection was unsuccesful and it says its prob missing a dependency but when i try downloading the dependency it wont work

btw the error that comes up when I try to install the dependency it says another version is installed but I have a tonm of different versions of dependency so id ont what to do
