Cannot edit model properties while visualizing a simulation

It wasn't immediately obvious to me that you cannot update model parameters while running a simulation. I can see now that the parameters are somewhat greyed out during the simulation. At least on my system they look very similar:

It would be nice to have a more obvious way to know that the parameters are for display only in the Simulation view.

Reproduction

1. load any model
2. Load Motion to spawn a simulation window
3. attempt to update a parameter on the model. For example, Appearance on a geometry frame
