FreeSSM never connects using CANBUS on FreeSSM (devel) #88

Description

@ldeploynoob

Hi all, I have a USDM 2008 Legacy with the 3.0 six cylinder engine.

Its ROM was patched to allow CANBUS logging speeds with RomRaider Logger, and that works fine. Far faster polling speeds for RomRaider Logger this way.

However, when I'm using FreeSSM (devel) compiled from the source code here for my Windows 11 laptop, the fastest connection speed for my Tactrix OP 2.0 is always the 4800 baud Serial-K Line speed, even if I try to set the "Preferences" check mark to use the CANBUS connection.

The "Protocol" box always shows as "SSM2 / ISO-14230" after connection, regardless of Preferences.

Shouldn't the "Protocol" box show as "ISO-15765" if it was connecting properly to the car's CANBUS network?

The "Interface" box shows as "OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM".

So is this a maximum connection speed for everyone using FreeSSM (devel), regardless of whether you use an old VAG-COM cable or an OP 2.0?

Or are people with newer cars than mine, using an OP 2.0, connecting with ISO-15765?

Another interesting symptom is that on my 2008 car, the ABS/VDC, Cruise Control and Air Conditioning buttons on the splash screen will not connect.

And the "Adjustments" button only allows idle speed adjustments, which I have not bothered to try.

I have to wonder if these limitations are because I am not able to connect with CANBUS.

I think 2008 was the first year for Subaru CANBUS, so maybe it wasn't fully built out by the factory at that point.

But still it seems weird that I can get a CANBUS connection fine in Romraider Logger, and not in FreeSSM (devel).
