Italian Cities v2 contains an elaboration of:
- data from the Istituto nazionale di statistica (ISTAT), municipality snapshot dated 2026-02-21, licensed under CC BY 4.0;
- GeoNames Postal Codes for Italy, snapshot dated 2026-07-30, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Attribution: GeoNames, https://www.geonames.org/.
GeoNames is not Poste Italiane. Postal codes and coordinates are provided
without warranty. GeoNames states that many latitude/longitude values are
determined or estimated algorithmically; the source accuracy field is
preserved by this project.
Pre-clean-room historical data with unresolved provenance and redistribution rights has been withdrawn from the current tree, maintainer-controlled branches and tags, and affected release assets. It does not contribute to the v2 canonical dataset, derived formats, release or GitHub Pages data.
GitHub pull-request references, caches, local clones and third-party forks may still retain copies outside the maintainer's control. Those copies are not authorized project distributions.
