HitTheKit is developed as an open-source project. Financial support is intended to fund verifiable project costs and additional development time; it does not buy gameplay advantages, governance control, commercial-song rights, a commercial license, or guaranteed support.
GitHub Sponsors is the active primary channel for recurring and one-time support:
https://github.com/sponsors/Codewriter90x
The maintainer's Sponsors profile is public and its payment connection is
active. The repository integration is defined in .github/FUNDING.yml. The
public profile, funding link, and Sponsor button have been verified from a
logged-out session.
Priority order:
- release engineering and future Apple Developer signing and notarization costs after public distribution gates are met;
- additional MIDI modules, electronic kits, and audio interfaces for reproducible compatibility and latency tests;
- accessibility and clean-machine release validation;
- website and distribution infrastructure; and
- focused development time for cross-platform MIDI and learning content.
Funding will not be used to acquire or redistribute unlicensed commercial music, transcriptions, artwork, or recordings.
The public profile currently offers three monthly tiers in US dollars:
- $5 — Supporter: helps sustain independent open-source development;
- $15 — Backstage Supporter: adds optional supporter recognition and occasional development or release updates; and
- $35 — Studio Patron: adds prominent optional recognition and early access to development notes, public release plans, technical previews, and behind-the-scenes updates.
Three one-time tiers provide the same low-maintenance, rights-neutral way to help without creating a recurring commitment:
- $10 — Pair of Sticks: a direct contribution to open-source development, documentation, testing, accessibility, and rights-clean assets;
- $25 — Hardware Test Boost: helps cover electronic-drum, MIDI, audio-interface, and clean-machine compatibility testing; and
- $50 — Open Source Milestone: gives release validation, documentation, accessibility, and focused development time a meaningful one-time boost.
Custom monthly and one-time support remains available through GitHub Sponsors. Rewards are digital, low-maintenance, privacy-conscious and independent of MPL rights. Sponsorship does not purchase guaranteed features, roadmap control, private GoMyRO access, commercial-song rights or a commercial HitTheKit license.
After project funding is received, the maintainer will publish periodic, appropriately aggregated information about:
- total project funding received, at a level allowed by the platform;
- major project expenses and their purpose;
- completed work tied to the published roadmap; and
- any change to tiers, fees, or funding channels.
Personal bank, tax, identity, and individual sponsor data will remain private. Sponsors should consult their own tax adviser; the project makes no claim that support is tax deductible.
Testing a release candidate, reporting a reproducible timing issue, documenting a drum module, reviewing accessibility, and sharing the project are all useful ways to help without spending money. Start with SUPPORT.md and CONTRIBUTING.md.
