+Lara earned a B.S. with distinction and honors in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Michigan, with a minor in Applied Statistics. Her prior research examined chromatin remodeling in *Arabidopsis thaliana* and used Mendelian randomization to study metabolic traits linked to Alzheimer's disease. In the Boyle Lab, she is developing Cas9-targeted nanopore sequencing methods to enrich and characterize nuclear mitochondrial DNA segments (NUMTs).
