Want to help testing out different games with HDR and providing logs

Hello, i want to help testing out different games and provide logs. Not sure what the best way to do this is, protons logging? they are quite verbose. 1 minute can build up to 50 mb really fast. Finally found a version of proton that actually manages me to use HDR. This for me has been a troubleshooting issue for me at least for half a year, so when it actually started to work i want to do my part in making it the best for everyone that comes over it.

So for the first results that i have gotten it worked great with death stranding 2 until it crashes about 15 minutes in. not sure if it is a proton crash or something else. With borderlands 4 sadly it crashes right away as soon as i try to enable HDR in the settings.

Proton version: Proton-EM 10.0.36 HDR TEST
OS: CachyOS
GPU: Nvidia 5080
Driver version: 595.58.03

Games tested: Death stranding 2 (Works but crashes eventually)
Borderlands 2 (Crashes when enabling HDR in game, no error message)

I will update this with more information when i get it

DS2 is an Nvidia driver bug and so is borderlands 4 probably, but logs would be appreciated to confirm the latter

@Etaash-mathamsetty What kinda of logs do you need and how verbose should they be. proton logs can go up to multiple gigabytes if left on long enough

One with PROTON_LOG=1 WAYLAND_DEBUG=1

@Etaash-mathamsetty will PROTON_LOG=1 WINEDEBUG=-all,err+all %command% suffice for the proton part of the logging? or do you need the full trace?

Just use the full trace and force quit the game as soon as it crashes to avoid the file from getting to large

ye... the log file got so big so fast that the game could not even load... a few seconds made a 900 mb file ... cant even upload it here... i could try to parse it with the uniq command to shrink it

yeah, the game didn't even start properly somehow

I could try to do the same with death stranding but that game runs about 15 min before it crashes. at that rate this log file might be like 50gb big... not sure what the best way to do this would be. its mostly traces that take up the most of the space.

ok then maybe try something like PROTON_LOG=-seh,-unwind

Having major issues with the current version of the nvidia drivers all over the board. I think it is best to wait for a new release so that the results will be less polluted. Will post here when the driver issues are resolved

ok it seems like things are a bit more stable with the versions again. Seems like there is still issues with older versions of proton and the latest nvidia driver. it has been fixed in the newer versions but it seems to be still a problem with the latest release or proton-EM. Cachyos-proton seems to work fine. as well as the latest version of proton experimental.
