[Wine-wayland] List of compositor bugs

KWin:

• Doesn't send wp_presentation::discarded for a roleless surface with an attached buffer

Hyprland:

• set_min_size,set_max_size hints are broken for toplevels
• Some sort of bug with window position/size management that causes a ton of problems for winewayland

Cosmic:

• Doesn't respect min/max size hints properly. Tiling is allowed, and window maximization shows up but the close button is now bugged ? But resizing with the cursor is disallowed.

Mutter:

• Broken fractional scaling support on Mutter 50 and lower. (Fixed in Mutter 51)

I will make this issue more detailed eventually (and list even more compositor bugs)

On the Cosmic side, it seems to not work for most games, but might be a case-by-case issue.
The wayland driver seems to work on PopOS/COSMIC for some but on my end I cannot reproduce it.

ARC Raiders seems to hang and crash on the preloading shaders screen.
PoE2 launches into a black window with audio playing.

Any news about Gamescope?

I actually had a sudden revelation yesterday, I realized if I just fork gamescope and make it primarily a wayland compositor we could get the Steam overlay working, and we wouldn't have to worry about broken compositors ever again. Also, scRGB would be universally supported, and we could fix up PQ tone mapping. It would be the perfect solution to everything. The bigger issue is having enough time to work on both this project and that one at the same time, and there's still a lot that needs to be done in this project too unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what the latency and frame pacing would look like, and I have a lot to learn about how compositors work.

Would it also fix issue, where fcitx5 cannot change language inside proton games?
Lang switch keybind works correctly in linux native tiles like dota2, but often not registering on proton games, and iirc in steam overlay also.

I think you are referring to this bug https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/work_items/1818 which should be fixed if you have xwayland 24.1.11

I mean the fact that it was happening to someone last month makes it very likely they were running a version newer than that, but thanks for letting me know. (But it magically stopped happening for them so idk anymore, and I was never able to reproduce anyways)
