Visage game - Problem displaying video within the mirror in a game chapter when running with a version later than Proton EM 10-12. #76

Description

@sathlerds

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Visage
  • Steam AppID of the game: 594330

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Not confirmed:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.

Symptoms:

In the "Dolores" chapter of the game Visage, when you reach the mirror shown in the video, a video image should appear inside the mirror. However, in versions 10-13 and later, the video does not appear; it only appears in versions 10-12 and earlier. I noticed that the EM 10-13 release notes mention the addition of new playback codecs; could this be a clue to the problem?

Reproduction

Open the game, get to the "Dolores" chapter, go up the stairs and turn left to find the first mirror. Notice that the video will not appear as expected, showing only a black color instead. This behavior must be in other parts of the game where the same feature is needed, but I didn't notice it because I switched to version 10-12 after detecting the problem. It's important to clarify that I'm using Lutris to launch the game and that the game version is from GOG (not Steam). The questionnaire was asking for Steam information, so I opened the client and entered it, but it's a GOG game running on Lutris. Sorry if the translation is incorrect, I used Google Translate.
