Description
When activating rumble/vibration the controller often looses connection (every 10-15 Minutes) and does not reconnect to the dongle unless I turn the controller off and then on again. Sometimes it only doesn’t stop to vibrate until I trigger the next rumble event.
The most connection losses I had in Space Marine 2 (without steam controller support and elite=true) which has lots of rumble events, but also in Ready or Not (with Steam controller support and elite=false) but less frequently. When I deactivate the rumble in controller firmware the problem still persists. I did this to rule out controller crashes due to power spikes in the controller. Only if I disable vibration in the game the controller never loses connection.
Environment
- Linux distro: Bazzite
- Kernel version: 6.17.7-ba28.fc43.x86_64
- Controller firmware version: 7.1.4.6 / RF: 1.0.2.6 / SI: 3.5.1.7
- Connection: 2.4G USB dongle
Steps to Reproduce
- Activate rumble/vibration in game or via Steam
- Launch a Game (like Space Marine 2)with lots of rumble events.
Expected Behavior
The controller is playable without the extra paddles in Space Marine 2 and should have normal rumble effects
Actual Behavior
The controller often hangs on the last rumble event and does not stop vibrating until I trigger the next rumble effect and sometimes (after about 10 minutes) looses connection to the dongle and does not reconnect unless I reboot the controller.
Additional Context
When I open Vader5d in Terminal it warns me that it‘s unable to suppress the redundant input device: device or resource busy. So Steam shows another controller, often with ghost inputs on buttons and sticks.
The problem doesn’t happen often with games that have very few rumble effects.
I‘m pretty new to Linux, so if I missed something obvious I‘m happy for any help.
