Feature Requests

Hi,

Been using the app for a couple days and really liking what you guys are building!

The following are feature requests:

Stories

• Ability to rename stories
• Change story settings: genre, prompt package, scenario, etc
• Branch stories independent of checkpoints
• Swipe back to prior response generations
• Side panel to talk to an AI about the current story, scenario and characters and allow the agent to edit

Messages

• Add "Copy" message button
• Ability to checkpoint any message, not just the latest

Characters tab

• When adding new characters, bring up the full "New Character" dialogue to allow for more detailed character creation and AI assistance
• Button for AI assistance with existing characters
• [Bug] Sometimes "Appearance" field is cleared after editing and updating a character
• Have a threshold where individual character boxes can be scrolled. Sometimes the "relationship" field can get very long and push other characters off screen
• Ability to toggle characters "active/inactive" without having to expand the character

Branches Tab

• Ability to "Add checkpoint", brings up a dialogue with collapsed list of messages (that can be expanded) and create new checkpoints and branches.

Lorebook Tab

• Button initiate an AI update

Memory Tab: When manually creating new chapters

• Search box to find text string
• Arrows to expand and collapse messages
• Expand/Collapse All messages button
• Add message numbers

Debug

• A 2nd tab to show context usage color coded for: main prompt, lorebook, rag, story
• Button to show/copy raw prompt

Settings

API

• Add "Test Connection" button to each profile

Generation

• Option to set a fallback profiles for request timeout. 2 settings: Main Narrative and Agent profiles

Interface

• Option to show current story Token count
• Option to show response generation time
• Option to show message number
• Add "Scroll to last action" button to scroll to the last User action

Apologies for piggybacking, but how about adding regex or something to decide what limits for chapters or something (so set boundary A and B, allow it to make all the chapters automatically or something)

I'm curious what a regexp would look like to be able to find chapter boundaries? In general, I favor shorter chapters, 10-20 messages, otherwise the summaries start missing details or events.

Aventuras is supposed to "automatically" create chapters, but I think it triggers on token limit.

Haven't wrote regex in a while, but probably also embed a couple vars/funcs, like Overview(StartingMessage: int, EndingMessage: int): Tokens or something. I don't really have a full blown idea, which is why I piggybacked this one lol

Hey.
Yeah a bunch of these are already planned, however especially the branching being detached from the checkpoints and branching from an arbitrary message is not easily possible with the way the app is currently built, it could probably be hacked in, but that doesn't sound that great. We don't keep historical world state data unless you make a checkpoint, that acts as a snapshot and thus allows branching.

We're currently working on a rewrite of the app that has those branching features in mind as well as swipes and rollback to an arbitrary message while rolling back world state to that point as well, as well as reducing the token burn by not relying on multiple LLM calls for retrieval every turn. Overall it should be way less heavy on token usage and should even be viable to be used with local models, right now you technically can, but responses could probably take 10 or more minutes.

I'm not sure what that could be yeah.. Currently chapters are automatically created every X tokens, by default every 24k, can be adjusted, or of course manual creation. But idk, using a regex there sounds fragile.

The chapter summaries don't do that much actually, when doing retrieval before the turn the agent will look at the summary to see if it possibly could contain some relevant info and then it pulls up the entire chapter to search in it. That being said, ideally it should at least contain the major events.

But yes, I like the ideas, will incorporate 🙏
