Brave is mentioned among the browser options for its commitments to privacy. I'd love to suggest Brave Search (search.brave.com) be considered as well for Search Engines.
Similar to DDG, Brave Search supports hash-bangs like !g to jump to Google, and !b to jump to Bing. That said, Brave Search is a distinct index of the Web, not reliant on either Google or Bing.
Brave Search also supports features like Goggles (see https://search.brave.com/goggles/) which enable users to pre-filter results against open-source rules and lists. These can be used to filter-out low-quality/untrustworthy sources, and more.
