error in function of latest_r_version

I ran the updateR::updateR() command at macOS 12.3.1, and got this error:
"Password:Error in if (!compactible) stop(sprintf(e, status$latest, macOS), call. = FALSE) :
argument is of length zero"

farther, I found that it is caused by the incorrect regular error in the latest_r_version function.

I have the same error in Mac OS 12.6.3. (Can't update to more recent OS because my machine is too old.)

Hi there! Currently I don't find any solution for this. But alternatively, I summarized some notes about manually updating R on mac. Maybe I can send you an email to share that (Just a student in China same as you try to help hhhhhhh).

Thought I'd add this in case it's helpful: I'm on the latest macOS 13.4.1 (updated just today before running updateR), and I also have this exact same issue.

As a rough workaround for now, you can remove the version check requirement after loading the package via:

library(updateR)
trace("updateR",edit=TRUE)

and remove line 24:

check_compactability(status = latest)

Not sure what sort of compatibility issues this could cause, so use at your own risk.
