🚀 MacOSCleaner 2.2.0 is released

MacOSCleaner 2.2.0 is officially out.

In our development announcement, we set out to address leftover remnants, project build artifacts, a navigable Disk Analyzer, and macOS 27 compatibility. Every item planned for this cycle has now been implemented, verified, and shipped.

🗂️ Leftovers After Uninstall & Orphan Review

• Post-Uninstall Residuals Sheet: Whenever an application is removed, a review sheet now surfaces all remaining files, their locations, and which app generated them. You can inspect and selectively choose what to send to Trash.
• Standalone Orphan Scanner: A dedicated review section in the Uninstaller detects files left behind by apps removed in the past. Everything is grouped into three confidence tiers (Guaranteed, Very Likely, Possible) with clear evidence cards.
• Safety: Leftover detection remains opt-in and review-only — no automatic wiping during regular Cleanup scans.

🧱 Project Build Artifacts (Dedicated & Default Off)

• Separated Category: Build folders (node_modules, target, .venv, .dart_tool, build, etc.) next to valid project manifests (package.json, Cargo.toml, etc.) are decoupled from Xcode into their own category.
• Age Filter: Limited to artifacts older than a configurable threshold (30, 60, 90, or 180 days, default is 60 days in Settings).
• Safety First: The whole-home node_modules sweep has been completely removed from Large Files. Source code and .git trees remain untouched.

📊 Navigable Disk Analyzer

• Interactive Hierarchy: Drill down into subdirectories with 1-click navigation and breadcrumb history.
• Honest APFS Sizing: Measures physical allocated APFS blocks (totalFileAllocatedSize) so clones and sparse files do not inflate reported sizes.
• Quick Look: Press Space or click the preview icon to inspect files natively.
• iCloud Protection: Dataless / cloud-only items are automatically skipped to prevent unwanted background downloads.

🕰️ System & Safety Improvements

• Time Machine Thinning: Switched from destructive snapshot wipes to graceful system thinning (tmutil thinlocalsnapshots) based on reclaimable space.
• DNS Flush: Rewritten to execute cleanly via the privileged helper.
• macOS 27 Interface: Liquid Glass materials refined for chrome and navigation; improved list contrast and full keyboard shortcuts (⌘,, ⌘C, ⌘F, ⌘R, ⌘⌫).
• Catalog Expansion: Coverage expanded to 275+ macOS applications, 86 developer toolchains, and 1,880+ known paths (including Claude Code CLI, Goose, Continue.dev, uv, mise, proto, Tuist, Zig, Ghostty, Zen Browser, and macOS system caches).
