This is really interesting... It's pretty much the info-graphic we had at one point about harmonizing / orchestrating heterogenous devices - which is nothing new. There is something very novel that we bring to the table that isn't here at all. At least not from what I read - awareness of an amalgamation of context(s). I think this was the hallmark of what differentiated our approach from others...

Khronos group is a web standards body. They set up and control OpenGL, WebGL and many standards that are not full W3C standards.

The Time for Standardization is Now!
VR and AR have experienced a boom of interest recently, and with that, a flood of hardware and software companies have begun spinning up efforts in the field. While variety is great, the growing number of devices, each with their own incompatible APIs is increasing fragmentation.

You should probably look at the OpenXR site from time to time or follow them on Twitter or whatever.

As and when Khronos establishes a standard, most manufacturers comply almost immediately. So then you comply or die.

@theo-armour Thanks for the 'vote of confidence' here.... Yes I read everything in the post and I have known about it for a while thank you again. If you didn't already know - and I don't expect you to given the depth of your involvement - we did dozens of interviews as part of the icorps program and continue to do so today...

We interviewed - among others - Yuval Boger (of OSVR) and Jason Gerald ("the VR Book") so, yes this is not a surprise to us. We, in fact intend to build on top of this - not compete with it.

Surely, if you had any idea of what we're working on, then you'd know and refrain from such inflammatory comments.
