Attempt to avoid redundant pairups

Eventually it would be a nice enhancement to have the bot prefer to pair you with people it hasn't paired you with recently. Otherwise the two most enthusiastic coffeemate users will end up seeing lots of each other.

This would force some persistent storage, of course...

Thanks for the comment! I totally agree that would be the next logical step. I just had a kind of loopy idea: we could actually use Slack for persistent storage, just have coffeemate DM slackbot with a JSON string of the list of previous pairings, then use the slack search API to retrieve it on startup. Probably a terrible idea because it's so non-standard, but also delightful. #slackdb

Actually, I am already doing half of that: coffeemate DMs the paired people already for every coffee. I just need to use the search API to get the list of people coffeemate DM'ed. this is seeming less crazy

Update: ok, turns out that bots can't use slack's search API. Thwarted!
